Where The Boys Are!
TobyGo.com
Who Is Who

Where are you originally from?
Brooklyn NY

What made you move to San francisco?
Needed somewhere I could be gay without running into family members and
having to explain why I was out with a guy. Wasn't quite out yet.

Tell us more about yourself?
I have a BFA in graphic design and a degree in computer arts. A large portion of my business is designing advertising materials for other promoters.
I met model John Lopez at a Jagermeister promotion my friend Holly was throwing. We got engaged in May. It pays to support other promoters!

What made you start your Promotions?
I had spent alot of time volunteering for local charities, mostly throwing fundraisers. My fundraisers seemed to raise about twice as much as others. At one point I was having trouble finding work. A friend said to me "Hey, you're great at raising money for other people, why not use that talent to make money for yourself."

How long have you been doing your Promotions?
That's an interesting question. I've been freelancing for the international company So Fine Event Design for about fifteen years. I've been involved with throwing charity events since I got to SF nearly 20 years ago. Been organizing events for SF bars and clubs for almost as long. I just do more bars and clubs now than I used to.

Who are your influences?
Andy Warhol and Keith Haring are my biggest influences (artists who knew how to party).

What is next for your Promotions?
People call me Porn Party Paul. So I want to come up with an event that will overshadow the Porn Party and change my nickname.

How did you come up with your Promotions?
Sometimes they just come to me. If I get stuck for a concept I go out drinking with a couple of friends and throw ideas at them. By the end of the evening I have a solid concept.

Favorite song?
Impossible to say. I love Motown, but my ringtone is Fuck You by Lilly Allen. If you haven't heard it get on iTunes NOW! It's a great song about homophobia.

Favorite movie
House of Yes.

Favorite drink?
Shot of tequila and a beer

Favorite dish?
John Lopez! Pick up a 2010 Bare Chest Calendar or a Gay Pocket and you'll know why.

Favorite celebrity?
I don't get star-struck. If you know any celebrities you know they're just like the rest of us. Dustin Lance Black is a great guy.

What tips can you give to future Promoters?
Be nice to everyone! You are not a Diva and this is not a competition. There's enough to go around for all of us. Make sure everyone working at your event is having fun and you won't have to worry about the clientele having fun. If another promoter needs a favor, do it. You never know when you'll need a favor.

Your favorite Motto?
Treat other people the way you want to be treated.
