Where The Boys Are!

Who Is Who

Where are you originally from?
My mama womb; West Berkeley or Alpha Beta in the ice cream department next to the cabbage patch kids.  So Mama Sanchez says.

What made you move to San Francisco?
I moved to San Francisco?!  Hot Pickles!  I made it!

Who are you and what are you all about?
Who am I not?  Do you have to ask?  Look at me!  I am "Liza With a P"!  Have been. Always will.  Even in a blackout...   On the other hand,  I have been performing for as long as I can remember.  My siblings say I would sing and dance at the age of two in Mama's platform cork cha-cha heels at football games.  "You can ring my bell.... Ring my bell... Ding a ling a ling".  I haven't stoped dancin yet.  You should see me in the isles at a dollar store, or on a treadmill.  But I can't even remeber when I was on an eliptical last.  My last memory  is when I fell off one.  Yes, I have a fear of falling,  but not off the wagon.

Do you sing live also?
Yes I do.  Just like my cuzin Petra.  We call her Peter Pan for short, and short she is.  No, she doesn't fly, but she rolls.  She's good for a fire drill.  Stop, drop, and rolls.  Do you want butter with that?

What made you start drag?
Well when I was a young child, I would see Mama's "spiders" laying around the house.  I never knew where they came from untill one day I saw Mama doing here face.  She was putting on eyelashes.  The rest was history.  Oh yeah, I left out the part where she burned me on the head with a skillet ans laughed.  But that's another story.  I will say I saw the light after that.

How long have you been doing drag?
I've been doing drag for as long as I can remember.  One of my earliest drag memories is when I was around four.  I would do the "Enjoli Perfume" comercial.  It was to the song, "I'm a Woman".  This is a true story and I have pictures to prove it.

Who is your Influence?
I have many influences.  First of all,  I saw Liberace live in concert at the Circle Star Theatre,  when I was five.  I will always remeber his sequined rhinestoned costumes and flamboyantness.  I thought to myself, " This is someone I can relate to".  Kathie Lee Gifford is another.  I would love to watch her as the La La Lady on Name That Tune and pretend I was her.  Of course there are oh so many more and new ones that I keep discovering.  But my all time influence is Liza May Minnelli, for reasons I can't disclose at this time.  I do have to give props to my Drag Mama, Manley Lennox.  Without her I'd be a queen with no hips.  Thank you Grizz!

What is next for project for you?
Let me think............... Oh yeah!  I am in " A Chorus LIne" at the Douglas Morrison Theatre in Hayward.  It runs Thursday- Sun, July 10th - July 26th.  Also I am gearing up for AIDS WALK SF 2009.  I am a volunteer for AIDS WALK and have been for the past twelve years.  I was named Volunteer of the Year in 2008.  This is an organization that has been near and dear to my heart.  This year the walk will be held on Sunday July 19th in Golden Gate Park.  I am also a member of the "Ruach Players" we are a singing group that performs at varios retirement centers.  I'll sing a senior a showtune anyday.  It makes them so happy and leaves me with a great memory. Also I'm in the works on a project with Anna Conda and Friends.  I'm sure by the day ends I will have something else to add to my datebook.

How did you come up with your name?
Well I've had the "Liza With a Z" album for as long as I can remember, and of course Liza is my life.  Well I'm not sure when it happened, but I just replaced the "Z" with a "P" for Patrick!  And there you have it.  I do have other personas in my hope chest such as "Tequila Eyez" and "Luscious Coco".  They come out on special occasions.

Favorite song?
My favorite song is " But The World Goes 'Round"  by Kander and Ebb, performed by Liza Minnelli, from the film "New York, New York".

Favorite movie?
I have many, but one of my top ten is "Jackie's Back!" starring Jenifer Lewis.

Favorite drink?
A Martini and a half, with a twist.

Favorite dish?
I do be lovin my pickles and carnitas, with a side of mayo.  How did you think I kept my figure?

Favorite celebrity?
Well Liza of course.  Duh!  Who knows what she'll do next?
What tips can you give to future Divas?
Well I can't give them my peach tips, or my grease bits.  They needs to find their own.  But I will say, do what you gonna do, and don't listen to all of those silly queens who are negative.  You know what works for you, or my cuzin Noonie wouldn't have named her kids; Unique, Special, ans Lovely.  And that's the truth!

Your favorite Motto?
"Nothing Like a Show To Sober You Up!",  " Who Touched My Taylor Dayne?",  And of course.  " Shut Up Ugly!"
