We all know her and love her, but we've all learn something from her. Everyone thinks they know her, but they have no idea. She has taken something that means a lot to our community and redefined it to mean so much more. Through her show she has also given the opportunity to give newcomers ....
It is an unfortunate fact that gay men suffer from eating disorders at a higher rate than straight men.* This can be attributed to many factors, none of which I'm qualified to get into. My only education in the world of eating disorders is that like many gay men, I am a victim of marketing - often wondering if there is something wrong with not looking like the muscled men with bulging pecs that you see in every magazine. The world of fundraising is extremely broad here in San Francisco. You can't throw a tube of lipstick in the Castro without hitting a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence or a drag queen asking for donations and texting friends to attend the next big fundraiser. Of course, fundraisers are held for many different reasons, but the goal is to help our community.
